About Us

  • In the spring of 2011, Key Reid founded The Reid Firm, a private legal practice which advises clients on a wide range of business transactions in a variety of industries, including real estate development, media, technology, gaming, sports, entertainment and venture capitalism. In addition, Key serves as an outside general counsel to both large and small businesses. Key provides legal counsel to individuals as well as new and established businesses on contract negotiations, corporate compliance and governance, employment law, intellectual property law, gaming law, administrative law, government relations, real estate law, mergers, acquisitions and land use and zoning issues.
  • Prior to starting his own practice, Key worked for many years as Senior Vice President and General Counsel for The Greenspun Corporation. Key was principally responsible for the legal and regulatory affairs of The Greenspun Corporation and affiliated Greenspun companies, which included: American Nevada Company, a commercial and residential land developer; and the Greenspun Media Group, which publishes The Las Vegas Sun, Niche Media, Vegas.com, LasVegas.com, SkyMall Magazine, Vegas TV and Tribune. The Greenspun Family also owned gaming assets through its ownership of Green Valley Ranch Resort Hotel, Barley’s Casino & Brewery, Greens Café, Palms Resort Hotel & Casino and Aliante Station. Key played a critical role in constructing and managing the Greenspun Corporation’s approach to legal and regulatory affairs, including sourcing and negotiating acquisitions, and provided thoughtful business and legal perspective on a wide range of issues important to the Greenspun Family. 
  • Prior to joining the Greenspun Corporation, Key had a private legal practice and managed the Washington, D.C. office of Nevada’s largest law firm, Lionel, Sawyer, and Collins. Key’s legal practice focused primarily on administrative, gaming, and corporate law. 
  • Prior to joining Lionel, Sawyer, and Collins, Key worked at the Washington, D.C. law firm Patton Boggs. At Patton Boggs, Key worked closely with Thomas Hale Boggs, Jr. and focused his practice in administrative law while representing local governments, corporations, universities, and non-profit institutions.
  • Key is a native Las Vegan and an active member of the Las Vegas community. He is a founder of and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Meadows Bank, a community bank in Las Vegas. He also enjoys serving as the President of the Southern Nevada Soccer Association/Heat FC.
  • Key graduated from the University of Virginia in 1996, and participated on 3 NCAA National Championship Soccer Teams.  In 1999, Key graduated from the George Mason School of Law.  After law school, Key Clerked on the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals for the Honorable Procter Hug, Jr.
